You must set up a consultation appointment prior to making a new dreadlock service appointment. We will need to analyze your hair in order to come up with a game-plan for timing and appointments, and to give you an accurate price estimate. In-person consultation exceptions can be made for those of you who live far away, but we will need to discuss at length through e-mail, and you will need to send some clear pictures of your hair.
Length. Depending on your hair type, you will need at least 6 inches of natural hair growth to start dreadlocks. The shorter/straighter your hair is, the easier for loose hair to slip out of the dread. If adding dreadlock extensions, usually 3 inches of natural hair growth is enough. Keep in mind: When creating dreadlocks, the hair is tangled up in such a way that you could lose up to half of your length. There are options. We can leave the bottom of the dread “open-ended” which can salvage some length. Dread extensions are also an option that you can ask us about.
